How to Bid
If you're a first time bidder, please read the Terms and Conditions before completing the registration form. Next, click the Register To Bid button to go to the registration page to set up a new customer account. Completely fill in the registration page and click the Submit button at the bottom of the form. You will receive an account number with a confirmation of your password upon successfully registering to bid via e-mail (usually within a few minutes). Please keep this information for future reference.
Find a coin you would like to bid on by either selecting one of the Featured Coins located on the NumisMedia Online Auction Home Page or by browsing through products listed in each of the Live Auctions categories. When you have found a coin you wish to bid on, input your Account Alias and Password, and enter a bid amount within the minimum bid requirements and bid increments.
NumisMedia uses a Proxy Maximum Bid Agent to allow users to bid the maximum amount they are willing to pay for an auction lot. The Proxy Maximum Bid Agent will increase bids by the current bid increment as necessary until the maximum is reached. A maximum bid is held in confidence by the system and the amount is used only to maintain the bidder's high bid position. For example, you're willing to pay $50.00 for a coin offered on NumisMedia Online Auctions, and the starting bid price is $40.00. You could bid $50.00 on this coin and the Proxy Maximum Bid Agent will show a current bid of $41.00 and privately record your $50.00 maximum bid. When another potential bidder arrives at the same auction lot, they may bid $45.00 against your $41.00 current bid and the Proxy Maximum Bid Agent will automatically increase your current bid to the new high bidder level of $45.00.
Our system will automatically email you if your maximum bid is outbid by another bidder, subject to the reliability of email. However, you might be outbid minutes or seconds before the close of an auction, in which case you may not have the opportunity to place a new bid. Therefore, you should bid the maximum amount you would be willing to pay for the auction lot when you place your first bid.
Please note that by placing a bid you are making a contract between you and the seller. Once you place a bid, you may not retract it. In many states, it is illegal to win an auction and not purchase the item; if you don't want to pay for it, please don't bid. Do not use currency symbols or commas.
Winning Bids
You will be sent e-mail confirmation following the close of an Auction Lot if the bid you submitted was the winning bid. This confirmation will include your Bidder Account Alias, Auction Lot Number, Bid Amount, and Seller Contact Information. Please note that due to the nature of email delivery, NumisMedia Online Auctions cannot guarantee that you will receive notification. We suggest visiting the Closed Auctions area where you can view all winning lots closed within the past 7 days or examine your winning bids for the past 30 or 60 days, with detailed information, by entering your alias and password.
Payments for Winning Bids placed through NumisMedia Online Auctions are made directly to the seller. Good funds must be transferred to the seller before he will deliver merchandise. Some sellers will accept major credit cards as this will speed delivery as do money orders. The buyer should provide credit card or other payment information directly to the seller. Checks must clear before merchandise can be delivered. Postal money orders are treated the same as cash and do not need to clear before merchandise is sent. NumisMedia maintains accurate current data on all registered sellers for use in case of a dispute.

I placed a bid but wasn't listed as high bidder in the Bid History?
If the item page is not showing the current date and time, you are not viewing the most current version of that page. Clear your browser's cache or click the refresh/reload button. Note: If you are a Netscape user you may experience problems receiving current pages even after following the suggestions above.
Where can I find a list of winning bids for a closed auction?
Click on the Closed Auctions in the right navigation bar and then input your Alias and Password. You will be taken to a list of your winning items from closed auctions. Find the item you're looking for and follow that link to the item page. This page displays the closed auction information including Closing High Bid, Contact Information, Coin Description, and Bid History.
When I tried to bid I received a message saying "Can't find Bidder"?
You probably entered an incorrect Bidder Alias or Password. Please enter both and try again.
How come my bid failed with the amount I submitted?
All bids must follow the bid increment indicated on the item page based on the minimum bid amount required to participate. The bid you entered may not fall within the bid increment.
Where do I find information and specifications about an item?
Item information and specifications are located on every item page to allow you to review this information before placing a bid.
How will I know if someone has out bid me?
You will receive e-mail notification whenever your bid has been bumped as high bidder. You can also revisit the auction item page at any time during the auction to see if your name has been bumped off the first spot on the Bid History list. Due to the nature of e-mail transmissions please do not rely solely on e-mail notification to inform you that you have been outbid. Posting to Auction
Entries are submitted directly to the NumisMedia Online Auctions. Please note that by posting a coin in NumisMedia Online Auctions for bid you are making a contract between you and the buyer. Once you enter a coin or lot up for auction, you may not retract it and must sell it to the highest bid. Posting Instructions:
