Dealers Head to Sacramento for ANA
Dealers continue to be active in their pursuit of Morgan and Peace Dollars in all grades and these coins do not appear to be at their peak yet. Just a few weeks ago MS63 Morgan Dollars had a Market price of $43 and today they are $56 and still rising. With the strong push of Silver toward $40 an ounce, common circulated Dollars are now approaching $30 in Good condition. We have not seen this kind of activity for circulated Dollars since early 1980.
In this week's LD Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide there are slight declines in the more common date Buffalo Nickels and Full Band Mercury Dimes. The decreases are ever so slight but it shows the trend for the last couple of years. On a positive note, it does indicate these coins are trading and may be near a bottom as some dealers and collectors take positions. Once these coins turn around they could get the same sort of boost that has spurred the Silver Dollar market as of late.
With the coin market heating up over the last few months many dealers have been taking advantage of their profits from metals and buying numismatic coins for their inventories. In many cases, Market prices have not changed so it is difficult to track this rising market. Dealers expect to see lots of activity at this week's ANA in Sacramento. If the metals continue this upward climb, this could be a very good show.
