Morgan Dollars Advancing

Over the last few weeks there have been over one hundred advances in the Barber Half Dollar series. The majority of these have occurred in the business strike chart. Dealers and collectors are looking for nice original coins no matter what the grade. The most active grades appear to be from VF20 through MS63 as these are the most affordable grades. The Market value for a complete set is $22,890 in XF40 but most dealers can attest to the fact that putting together a nice original set in this grade would be most difficult and take a lot of patience. It would almost be easier to complete a set in MS63, currently with a Market value of $125,635. In MS63, some of the dates are widely available so you could take your pick from several coins while many of the XF grades do not appear in the market very often.
Morgan Dollars have been steady over the last 6 months, but lately, many of the better dates have garnered some higher sales. The 1884 S is always a tough coin to find in Mint State and anything above MS62 is usually a quick sell. The MS63 advanced to $38,500 Market this week and there are several buyers in this price range. This is a short list of just a few of the dates and grades that have increased recently.
1879 CC Cap Die - MS63 - $5,750
1889 CC - MS63 - $36,500
1890 CC - MS66 - $20,500
1895 O - MS64 - $69,500
1896 O - MS63 - $5,950
1903 S - MS64 - $6,750
