Stack's Bowers Auction Realizes over $14 Million

The recent Whitman Baltimore Expo proved just how valuable the show is to the coin market. It not only draws dealers from all over the country but it also brings in collectors from the many surrounding states. This show continues to improve and dealers look forward to this major event. Over the last three weeks Gold has fallen over $50 per ounce and this week's Moderns Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide shows a long list of declines for Eagles, $5 & $10 Commemoratives and Buffalo Gold. Despite the lower prices most dealers continue to buy coins to fill the needs of their clients. Currently the one ounce Proof Gold Eagle wholesales for $1,480 in the original package and the one ounce Silver is trading for $52. A bag of 1,000 Silver Dollars in VG will sell for $24,625 and 90% Silver bags are $15,250.
In this week's NumisMedia 500 there are a number of new highlights to report. Original Mint Sets from 1947 to 1958 have been on the move for several weeks now. Most of them are up over 15% in the last month and the 1955 set is higher by 31%, now with a Market price of $250.
