NumisMedia Weekly Market Report
With Moderns in Demand, True Rarities Remain Strong
September 14, 2015
As we all know, there are common coins that are very readily available in most dealer inventories and then there are the coins that are hard to find. In this current market, millions of dollars are being spent (and made) in modern bullion coins, but the truly rare coins are still strong. The majority of this week's adjustments to the price guide charts have been increases to the more rare coins, where the population reports are showing a lack of availability. The NumisMedia 500, which lists all the Market price changes over the last 30 Days and Year to Date, is showing a flurry of activity over the last few weeks with a variety of coins on the rise.
The top gainer this week is the 1879 S Reverse of 1878 Morgan Dollar in MS61 Prooflike. This is a tough coin in all Mint State grades but it is even more difficult to acquire in P/L or DMPL. The MS61 Market has climbed to $300 from $220 in the last month; that is an increase of 36.36%. Another coin rising is the 1846 O $10 Gold Liberty in MS60. This coin is higher at $17,500 Market, up 29.63%.
Below is a list of several other coins that have reached the top of this week's NumisMedia 500.

1920 D Standing Liberty Quarter | MS65 FH | $7,250 | +17.41% |
Heritage Auctions will host the Official Sale for the Long Beach Expo which begins this week. One of the highlights will be a 1792 Copper Disme in PCGS XF40 that should bring some enthusiastic bidding activity. There are less than 20 examples known and the rarity is comparable to the Silver Half Disme.
Another lovely coin bidders will be watching is the 1875 $5 Gold in NGC PR64 Cameo. There are only five coins total certified in this grade by both services with only three in PR65 Cameo.
1875 $5 Gold NGC PR64 Cameo is available at the Heritage Auctions Long Beach Expo U.S. Coins Signature Auction in Long Beach, California, September 17-20, 2015
