NumisMedia Weekly Market Report
Top Graded Peace Dollars Bring Top Dollar
February 3, 2020
Legend Rare Coin Auctions held their Regency 36 Sale at last week's PCGS Members Only event in Las Vegas. This auction included numerous rare coins of quality which is typical of a Legend sale. The two top sellers in this sale were from the Peace Dollar series. The 1927 D Peace Dollar in PCGS MS66+ CAC, which sold for $111,625, is one of just four coins certified as MS66+ at PCGS, but the only one that has the CAC sticker.

The 1934 Peace Dollar in PCGS MS67 CAC, which also brought $111,625, has superb original toning that may have been the deciding factor in certifying this coin as an MS67 while the '27D did not make the grade; tough to see much difference in the two. While there are a total of 11 coins certified by both PCGS and NGC in MS67, this is the only one with the CAC sticker. Below are some other highlights from the Legend Regency Auction 36.
