Highlights from Legend's Regency Auction 40

September 7, 2020

As the official auctioneer of the PCGS Members Only Show, Legend Rare Coin Auctions recently concluded their Regency Auction 40 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, August 27th. While this sale did not contain many high valued rarities, there were plenty of top quality rare coins that attracted some very aggressive bidding, including a variety of notable CAC approved coins.

1900 Morgan Dollar certified by PCGS MS65 DMPL CAC

This is the finest known coin for the date and it sold for $52,875. Most of the DMPL coins in this date have somewhat dull surfaces, this coin has amazing cameo contrast and, to the DMPL specialist, is a sight to behold.

Back in June, Gold was about $1,740 and Silver was around $18. Today, Gold is at $1,930, higher by almost $200, but Silver is up nearly 50% at $26.90. These markedly higher prices have spurred not only the bullion market but the rest of the coin market as well. This is especially so for the ever popular Morgan Dollars. There are hundreds of dealers buying into this market and prices have been jumping week after week. Currently, MS65 Morgan Dollars are wholesaling at $125 to $135.
