Six Coins Break $1 Million in Heritage FUN Sale
February 1, 2021
There may not have been a FUN Show this year but the Heritage FUN Sale in Dallas brought out some great rarities and set some record sale prices. 'Six coins broke the million-dollar mark and five world records were set - some by new clients who had never before purchased a coin before joining Heritage,' said James Halperin, Co-Founder of Heritage Auctions. When you add up all the auctions for the month of January (including U.S. coins and paper money and the New York International Sale of world coins and paper money), Heritage sold over $90 million worth of collectibles.
1787 Brasher Doubloon New York Style with EB on wing certified by NGC MS65* and CAC
This is arguably the world's most expensive Gold coin, bringing $9.36 million in the Heritage FUN Sale. Ephraim Brasher designed his coins in 1787 using the state coat of arms of New York with the sun rising over a mountain peak and a body of water at the forefront. The other side displays an eagle with wings spread, a bundle of arrows and an olive branch; there are 13 stars around the eagle's head and the initials EB at 10 o'clock. This coin is the finest of the 7 known and is a collection cornerstone rarity.
