Upcoming CSNS Auctions (Part Two)

Last week we covered one of the two official auctions for the 84th Annual CSNS Convention which begins next week. For highlights from the upcoming Heritage Auctions Central States sale, being held at their Dallas headquarters the week following the show, check out part one, Upcoming CSNS Featuring Two Major Auctions.
Unlike the Heritage Sale, the Legend Regency Auction 58 will actually be held at the Central States convention, April 27th. Both sales have plenty of quality rarities to keep collectors and dealers engaged for the next few weeks. Below are some of the important highlights from the Legend Central States sale.
Legend Regency Auction 58
1798 Large Cent 2nd Hair Style certified by PCGS MS65 RB and CAC
While the 1798 Large Cent had a nearly 2-million-coin mintage, there are numerous varieties included in this number. The 1798 2nd Hair Style may have hundreds of circulated coins listed in the population reports, but there are barely over 50 coins listed in all Mint State grades (none in Red) including this MS65 RB which also has CAC approval. This date is listed at $104,000 in MS65 Brown but we have no price in Red & Brown. This same coin sold 10 years ago for $52,875.

1795 Flowing Hair Dollar 3 Leaves certified by PCGS MS64+ and CAC
There are a total of just 72 Mint State 1795 Flowing Hair Dollars in the 3 Leaves variety certified by PCGS and NGC combined; allowing for multiple resubmissions this number could be significantly lower. This coin being offered is certainly unique in the sense that it came from the Brent Pogue Collection and is the only one with the MS64+ and CAC designations. There is only one other coin certified higher by PCGS at MS66, and there are three coins certified by NGC in MS65. This same coin sold for $258,500 in 2015 and it has a current listed NumisMedia CAC value of $350,000. While not in the perfect grade of MS70, this coin is a perfect example of this date and variety and will certainly fit nicely into any advanced collection.
