Auctioneers on Display at the ANA World's Fair of Money

August 18, 2025

Great Collections is the Official Auctioneer for this year's ANA World's Fair of Money (August 19-23) in Oklahoma City. GC will be accepting lots at the show for their upcoming online auctions which are presented every Sunday. We will report on some of the highlights from the Great Collections sales in the near future as there are always some gems of interest.
Stack's Bowers Galleries and Heritage Auctions are the ANA Event Auctioneer Partners for the World's Fair of Money; they will be showing featured lots from their sales throughout the show with the actual auctions being conducted the following week at their respective home offices and auction galleries. Below are some of the potential highlights from the Heritage Sale. We will present Stack's highlights next week.
Heritage Auctions has so many rarities in their ANA World's Fair of Money sale that it is difficult to select the top highlights, although we have featured two gold coins that may finish at or near the top of the prices realized. What really stands out to us is that there are numerous lots featured that do not have listed values in our price guides, principally because we had not seen them in the marketplace prior to this sale. Price discovery is always exciting as it presents us an opportunity to place a value on a particular rarity. Also notable is the number of 1889 CC Morgan Dollars listed in this sale, with over thirty coins from MS61 through MS64, including a few Prooflike and Deep Mirror Prooflike coins, all PCGS certified.
1880 $4 Gold Stella Coiled Hair certified by NGC PR67 and CAC

The Coiled Hair Stella is one of the most prized coins in numismatics. There were only thirty coins minted combined for the 1879 and 1880, and there are possibly less than twenty coins known to exist in all grades. This 1880 $4 Gold Stella Coiled Hair in NGC PR67 with the CAC approval may well be the star of this sale. It is the highest certified by either major grading service and the current value listed is $1,900,000.

1907 $10 Gold Indian Rolled Edge certified by CACG MS65+

The 1907 $10 Gold Indian with the Rolled Edge had an original mintage of just forty-two coins. However, according to the population reports, there are at least eighty-eight coins certified in all grades by PCGS and NGC, and more if the certified CACG coins are included. Obviously this date is much rarer than the populations reports indicate. This CACG MS65+ has a current listing of $575,000, but with so many resubmissions, there are not likely twenty or so higher graded coins in existence that are better than this one.
