NumisMedia Weekly Market Report
Heritage July Auction Begins This Week
July 11, 2022
This is a big week for Heritage Auctions. Now that the Long Beach Expo and FUN Shows are in the rear view mirror, the Heritage combined auctions for these two major shows will culminate at their Dallas offices. As for the shows, dealers reported profitable events even though bullion reduced some of their pre-show expectations. Devaluing bullion inventory is not enjoyable but lower metals present a great opportunity to buy at the bottom of the current cycle.
Price advances appear to have stalled for some series, although there are a few areas that are still adjusting upward to bring prices in line with the current dealer activity. The top auctions are still attracting rarities seldom seen in the marketplace and this Heritage sale is no different. Some of the many potential highlights are listed below.
1943 Bronze Lincoln Cent certified by PCGS AU50
There are thought to be less than twenty 1943 Bronze Lincoln Cents known to exist. This one is certified by PCGS as AU50 which is currently listed at an FMV of $262,500. This coin has not yet been offered at auction; an NGC AU55 realized $240,000 in a Heritage sale last year.

1907 $10 Gold Indian Rolled Edge certified by PCGS MS66
While there were over 200,000 originally minted 1907 $10 Indians, the Rolled Edge variety is on record as having just 42 coins minted. This is the toughest coin to collect in the $10 Indian series other than the 1933 which were mostly melted as a result of the U.S. Gold coin recall. The 1907 Rolled Edge in MS66 has a current FMV of $572,000. Earlier this year, a 1907 Rolled Edge MS67 certified by PCGS sold for $1,140,000 by Stack’s Bowers, and it additionally had CAC approval.
